This image shows one of the fields (HDF-N-E1) at 3.6 and 4.5 micron corresponding to Spitzer IRAC Channels 1 and 2. The fields are ca. 5 by 10 arcmin in size which at the epoch of the first galaxies corresponds to about 60 by 100 million light years. Black areas correspond to blanked out pixels containing point sources and the images have been filtered with ca. 10 arcscec to reveal the underlying large scale fluctuations. An area overlappiung between the two channels is also shown: one can see the same structures appearing in each of the independent channels as should be the case if the fluctuations arise from the sky.
