Doc-summary/Abstract:
We discuss a new method of estimating the cosmic infrared background (CIB) from the spatial properties of infrared maps. The method assumes that CIB is produced by matter clustered like galaxies which allows to predict its spatial properties from recent measurements of the galaxy 2-point correlation function. This allows to distinguish the spatial signal of the CIB from that of the foreground emission, such as resulting from stars in the Galaxy and dust in cirrus clouds and the Solar system. We apllied the method to the COBE/DIRBE maps and obtain interesting limits on the CIB at wavelengths from 1.25 to 100 micron. Various technique to overcome the contributions from the foreground emissions in various bands will be discussed and the new limits on CIB presented.
